Another exciting year has gone by, a year that marked steady activities in all aspects of our work. We grew stronger as a team, we started to take steps on sustainability of our outreach programmes by 90%. In every interaction with a patient or beneficiary, their questions and thoughts, made us think, made us look for answers that we had maybe never thought of before. In seeking those answers, we have started to grow as professionals. We in our understanding moving towards the ground reality and challenges as we face the critical resource crunch. In the rush to address, solve this overwhelming issue of resource, one tends to lose perspective on what we have set out to do. Therefore, we have to be careful in our future social endeavor and there are no quick fixes. Slowly but surely, changing attitudes and supporting causes to take on the onus of change are.

Therein lies the answer to sustainable change and growth. And that’s SHIS’s mission have to be from now onwards.

I am very pleased to share our work for the year 2016-2017, our successes and our challenges, with stories of growth and empowerment. I do hope you enjoy reading them. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us, financially and in all manner in every possible way. I would especially like to mention our beloved Dominique Dada & Didi, Kathryn Spink and all the members of City of Joy Aid, Dr. Helgo Meyer Hamme, SARI of France, Rotary Club of Calcutta who have contributed significantly to the growth of SHIS year after year.
